The french car manufacturer PSA Group tracks its containers by IoT

The french car manufacturer PSA (Peugeot Société Anonyme) tackles the optimization of container rotation between its different sites and factories thanks to the Internet of Things. The containers will be monitored in real time by sensors connected to Sigfox’s low speed radio network. IoT’s technical platform is delivered by IBM.

The goal is to avoid interruptions on the production lines. The project is currently being rolled out at several of the group’s sites. « We are constantly looking for technological solutions to meet the needs of our plants and to be as efficient as possible, » said Yann Vincent, Vice President of Manufacturing and Supply Chain for PSA Group.

« This system allows us to know, individually and in detail, the location of our containers. This technological advance must optimize our rotation loops and prevent incidents. This is a real breakthrough and a new step in the digitization of the supply chain « he added. In a next step, the platform can be optimized by using artificial intelligence and blockchain.
